Exhibitions, lectures and seminars.
The Department runs various public exhibition, lecture and seminar programmes throughout the year. The 'Exhibitions' link has information on recent shows in our own Gallery such as 'Eero Saarinen: Between Earth and Sky', as well as details on other local galleries. The 'Architecture Research Seminars' focus on current research within architecture and related fields. The postgraduate community also organize various seminars that feature diverse research agendas. Architectural Alignment Project
The project for the Alignment of Architectural Education in East Central Scotland is a three year collaborative project funded by the Scottish Funding Council involving:

The Lunchtime Architecture Research Seminar series is the Department's principal forum for the presentation and discussion of research. It aims to be a generous intellectual environment where diverse research topics and agendas, at various stages of development, might be aired, tested, and explored.
All seminars are held on Fridays between 1:00 and 2:00 PM in:

Continuing Professional Development
The Universtiy of Edinburgh offers professional architects the opportunity to attend CPD events drawn from a diverse and stimulating programme of seminars and lectures held by Architecture Staff (Architecture Reseach Seminars) and the Edinburgh University Student Architecture Society (EUSAS).

Light of Tomorrow International Velux Awards
Anastasia Karandinou has been awarded 3rd Prize in the Light of Tomorrow International Velux Awards 2006 for Students of Architecture co-sponsored by the UIA and EAAE. Anastasia was an MSc AAD student last year studying with the M Arch students in Shanghai and is now a PhD candidate here.
There were 557 entrants from 51 countries in the World. The top three were presented with their awards along with the 17 Honourable mentions in Gehry's Guggenheim, Bilbao on Monday 23rd October in front of an International audience of about 750 people. The countries who made most submissions for the competition were USA , Spain, France and Brazil with about 70 students from each of these countries submitting. There were 14 submissions from 11 UK schools.
